(author) was born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, in 1984. Four months later his family escaped to Germany. In 2016, his award-winning debut novel “Vor der Zunahme der Zeichen” was published to acclaim.

Varatharajah studied philosophy, protestant theology, and comparative religion and cultural sciences at the Philipps-University Marburg, the Humboldt University in Berlin and King’s College London. Senthuran Varatharajah lives in Berlin.
