(author) was born in Sandoval, Illinois. She is a prose writer, poet and performance artist. Her texts have appeared in numerous publications such as the Tin House, Electric Lit, The Brooklyn Rail, The Evergreen Review and many others. She has won the Cobalt Fiction Prize, The Jerome Foundation Award for Emerging Authors and was a two-time finalist for the Lambda Award. Her first book “Love Does Not Make Me Gentle or Kind” was published in 2009.
